ProPointer speaker cover mod...

Probably voided my warranty but I thought I needed to tone down the speaker a little.

I plugged the two speaker slits with some small rubber strips and painted them over with a dash of flourescent green paint. Now I have good vibration with about half the volume.

Here's a pic. Sorry about the pic quality...I still haven't quite gotten down how to operate my digital camera.

what about useing plumbers putty? water resistant and will stick too it i pinpoint with vibrate only so maybe it would work?

Plumber's putty would probably work fine...certainly would seal the water out better. I just used some things I had handy while I was sitting around waiting for my knee surgery to mend. One thing's for certain, it did cut the volume in half and you notice the vibration a whole lot more. Maybe because the speaker vibration adds to the regular vibration circuitry?

I just hope it doesn't damage anything...I don't think it will...I don't see how it could.

Another reason I used rubber strips is that they can be removed easily if I ever wanted to.

I have to give Garrett credit for building a tough pinpointer though. It's solid.

another thing why can we order it with the speaker disconnected anyway wouldnt that solve all issues for people that dont want the speaker ??

They might do that...if you specifically request it. I don't know how Garrett produces these. I've personally seen their assembly shop a few years back. Looks like they could do it for you.

Hey whatever works. I doubt that youvoided your warranty. Lot of users plug the speaker. When I field tested the prototype I told Garrett that screeching had to go but they listened not.
