Howdy,
The weather was nice and foul, with a very light rain this evening, so off I went back again to continue my search at a place that's been giving up the goods. I walked out to where I wanted to start, turned on the SE, hit noise cancel and let it finish. When done, I just nudged the coil to wake things up and got a chirp. I gave it a wiggle, and it still sounded good, so dumbfounded, I went into target recovery mode. Out came a 1910 Wheat. Hmm, OK!
From there I just stayed near another tree I had picked, and went at it. In about an hour, I recovered three more Wheats, an Indian Head, and a Barber dime. Two clad dimes and three memorials snuck in as well, but the oldies outnumbered them this time.
Also managed and old lipstick tube, marked 'Coty' New York. Probably dates to the 40's I'd guess.
That brings this site recoveries to 41 Wheats, 4 Indians, and 4 silver (two Barber, two Mercs) so far. Still haven't gone into ferrous for the nickel chasing yet.
Thanks for looking.
