Pulse Hunting: Where? (Book Excerpt)

Thought I would pop this in; it's from a book that I'm slowly working on. Pardon any typos; it's a draft.

great post Clive, I'm about $200 away from getting a dual field & I've been reading your last PI book it's full of great info.
i run an excal at the moment & find a few newer gold rings, most of the areas i hunt are in a large bay which gets minimal sand movement but if ya watch the water you can find hot spots, i find i get a lot of old coins ranging from the late 1800s to the 1950s that are quite deep sitting on the hard pack but i rarely find old gold & the ones i do find i usually get while digging other targets so i hope the DF will get me into the "GOLD ZONE" which is about 10-15 inch down.
what is the average depth you get on a mid 3-4g to small 2.5-2g size ring with the DF ???.

Hate to say it but so much of the depth you can get with a pulse is about tuning for the conditons that I would never want to say how deep something can be found as a generality. I've missed a17 gram rings because it was sitting on a hill. (First horizontal pass). I've also found shoe eyelets that were two digs deep---it's all about coil control and understanding what the threshold is telling you. There's no such thing as a turn-on-and-go P.I. You may have to change your handle...hehe
Glad you like "Pulsepower..."

Probably should put in a couple of corrections here. This forum has no quote marks to be had, so when I say discriminate mode, I mean the way to set a pulse so that junk is easier to hear. Another correction would be that such a setting requires a slower delay, not a faster one. Apologies,

Hi CJC, I recently purchased the DF book and read this same part multiple times trying to understand it. Specifically are you saying to turn the Delay in the clockwise direction to slow down and discriminate? Thanks.
