Got up early, drove my wifey to work, went home & dressed up the AT pro with a hot pac for a hunt in the snow on couple of snow hills. And she was cold!

My first find was one of them there 2 dollar coins, which paid for the gas. There were a lots of baby rats sliding down those hills carelessly with their moms and dads. And that's a good thing.

Never underestimate the potential for wildlife on these snow hills. This "COULD" of been supper, but there were leftovers in the fridge which had priority over this little feller.
And go figure, my batteries were showing nearly zero bars......not good...equivelent to nearly running out of gas in the car. Ha! And I was good for at least another hour.

Below are my finds for the day. Nice memory stick too!

Good hunt and finds John !
What did the rabbit come in on the AT PRO

john finds bunnies everywhere in bikinis and furs lol great hunt john but i dont see how you can stand that cold. was 80 here today 79 at 8pm

John just wondering have you tried lithium batteries? Should be no need to bundle up you detector as much. They are said to work to -40deg. I just put some in my AT know they
last a lot longer in my other detectors I have used them in.

Jason.

Ya know I have read a lot of post on all the forums around findmall, and i have come to find out at this mall , that there is no forum on here with the humor that comes out of the garrett user forum. Now that ive said that (John you need help)

I haven't. I think that the batteries are just getting plum worn out. They are the same ones that came with the detector. I have plenty of current rechargeables at home. But it would be handy to keep a set of lithium's around for a backup. Good suggestion.

That's too hot! A fellow could get heat stroke in those temps. MMMMMM, hunting bunnies? Maybe one needs a bunnyhunter machine:lmfao:

Okay you guys, what is a rabbit?

I wish we had loonies and toonies down here. that is some serious coinage!
Still trying to kill my batteries that came with my unit.

Snow digging looks like fun!

Half of my $700.00+ this year was from those one and two dollar coins. finding them brings up the totals quickly. Every year, our government teases us with the possibility of minting a $5.00 coin for circulation. that would be real sweet!

Yes, Lithium are the best in cold weather. But I think they might be the best in general. You will get around 2X the hours on a lithium battery and they do cost a lot more (like 2X!). I tried a lithium and got 2X the life out of it compared to a regular battery. The battery meter on my detector went from 75% to empty quickly though, so they go down quick from that point on but the overall life is very long.

Thats just too cool of a post! No pun intended haha.

Did you put a hot pack on the top and bottom of the AT?

Your Winter reserve areas still producing well!

Alan

I put a hot pac on top of the machine, with several layers of Kleenex, some saran wrap and that red hat. I think its a combination of too much cold and my batteries starting to wear down, as they are the same ones that came with the detector. I tried this setup years ago with some metal detectors (non-Garrett) and the cold prevented the knobs from turning. They just seized right up. There's a lot of "PLUSES" to using push button technology, both in water and on land, although I don't mind the knobs either.

John,
You absolutely crack me up !!.....I LOVE that picture of the hat on the AT Pro .... It's a GREAT picture for a commercial ....and to think it's not just a prop ....It's the REAL DEAL !!!...... ..... You are a true inspiration to the sport !!.....Jim

As per the hat pic. Have you ever thought of getting into fashion designing? Perhaps a whole new line of attire for Garrett detectors. You may have missed your calling. HAA.
