Purchased a CZ-21

I picked up a CZ-21 for water hunting (I finally got scuba certified). I have been playing around with it and I can honestly say that this detector has greatly impressed me. A zippy little thing, it gets the good stuff real quick. I was not expecting this much depth, ease of use and accuracy of the disc. Especially considering it's got the 8 inch coil, this detector is way deeper than what I was expecting. I haven't done any official depth tests but just digging around with it so far has left me in awe. This little coil will fool you with how deadly it is! But the part about this detector that takes the cake is the fact that it rings up iron on shallow bottle caps and twist ties. YES. I thought CZ21s were supposed to give good tones on bottle caps? Mine does not. This will save me much, much digging in the future. Not to mention this thing feels like it could survive a grenade. Very happy with my purchase so far.

I do not recall BC's causing me problems with CZ's either. And to think a detector design 25 years old is still cutting edge deep.
While Dave J. did not invent VLF, motion, TID etc. he reminds me of in "Cross Roads" where the old man, Willie Brown
told Eugene , "you don't need Robert Johnson's lost song-you need to take his music somewhere new...."
And boy Dave took detectors somewhere new-and still is!
(and to think some dealers once told him, Fisher needed to lose the new [CZ] prototype undergoing field tests.)

Yes. This detector is amazing and has surpassed all my expectations. I was worried about deep iron sounding good, or deep good targets sounding like iron. This is not the case. A deep good target I think you can occasionally coax a low tone out of, but it is very obvious when you have iron vs. good target. Found a big earring today, intricate design. One you'd think would have tones jumping all over...nope, it was a solid mid tone. Again, very impressed. And this detector doesn't complain about our sand! We have pillow lava in some of our cliffs. Makes for the kind of sand you can drag a magnet through and have all the little iron particles accumulate on it. Land machines must turn their sensitivity way down. I'm running close to 9 sensitivity on the CZ21 and I never get any false signals. I honestly can't believe it.

I picked up 1 several months ago. Much much deeper than I thought . I mount mine between the hand grip and arm rest. Also use a cf skinny shaft. The weight difference and distribution makes a world of difference.
The cz is definitely one of the better detectors I've had my hands on

I think the cz20/21 is a fantastic machine. I mount mine underneath the armrest a upside down. I used to hip mount it but I kept putting strain on the coil wire and having to send it in for repairs. She is a tank.

I'm sure that Fisher tweaks the design as they make advances in detection circuitry. I don't think the CZ21s that come out today are the exact same as the ones that came out in, say, 2012. In fact, all manufacturers probably have to make changes now and then because of the natural evolution of circuit components. When they can't source a certain part anymore, they are forced to adapt to using a different one (and newer components are usually better/more sophisticated). IDK, I'm not an electrical engineer, just a hunch

Nobody makes a lightweight (simultaneous) multifrequency detector, not Minelab, not Whites, not Fisher. Also, nobody makes a lightweight scuba capable detector. Darned thing would float like a cork!

My CZ-6, was converted to 6A as soon as that was offered. A few years ago it went in for a repair and things had to be replaced.
When I talked to them they asked how old was the unit (1992), and told me there were parts in it they had never seen.
Obviously, not just new updated parts are used, but old techs retire to be replaced by new ones also.

Everyone will have their opinion......... but I gotta know..... have you ever used the used a CZ with head unit flipped upside down mounted right under the arm rest/cuff??? This configuration is evenly balanced right at the handle grip and easy to swing....... honestly ..... it's a night and day difference when the machine is balanced. I also was disappointed about the weight and easy of use when I first got the machine but found the perfect way to mount the unit.

The special mount kit is $25 clams on eBay and worth every single clam!!!!!!

Down side to that mounting is that the discrimination switch is not where it can be easily flipped between auto-tune and disc 1.
