Quattro Chattering like its Possessed.

HI All,

Got a tech question for anyone. I have a 10 month old Quattro which has been fantastic. Yesterday,(shortly after finding ice) all of a sudden the machine goes haywire and won't stop chattering. To the point where it sounds like a piece of aluminum is stuck to it and flapping around. Did a few noise cancels, made sure I was on a clean spot. Check and cleaned all around it, under the cover, in the tubes, etc. Still does it. Changed headsets, batteries. and still. It as though there are 2 or 3 machines running at the same time in there.

PS. Settings are: All Metal, iron nulled, Low Trash, 13 Sensitivity, and 12 threshold.
 
I assume you mean you cleaned out your coil cover? Also I am assuming you have made sure your clear of any EMI sources? Have you dropped the Sensitivity down to 1 to see if it stops? Have you wiggled the cable at the back of the machine and at the coil where it goes in to see if it might be intermittent? Do you have another known good coil to swap out? Does the machine do this in all four modes? Do you have the weather cover on it? If so take it off and wipe the control pod down with one of those static cloths you put in the dryer. Ok Golddigger I will try to think of something else if you still have a problem after trying these suggestions.

Tried most of those already. No Luck. It looks like it might be the cable to the coil. When I wiggle it the chatter lessens. I'll call minelab tomarrow and see what they say.

I hope your not in some of the areas that I've been in where there was so much melted aluminum in the ground it sounded like a symphony of high pitched noises, but when I changed areas, it cleared up. I'd certainly take any coil covers off, clean the coil real good, set the sensitivity on auto, and your audio just above threshold, and then noise cancel on clean non metallic ground, in an area where you "know:" there's no buried metal. Then, if you still get it, I'd call Mine lab. Good luck and please, let us know what you find out. We all could benefit from this problem. Thanks, Marc.
