quattro sweep speed

Got a few questions
I seem to get a lot of beep and when I recheck the beep it not a thing

1) Threshold I like to keep mine at around 8
2) I have try to run the sensitivity on AUTO and lower
3) I get this at both end and in the middle of me sweep speed to fast

What do you mean when you say "On Auto and LOWER"? Because if you come out of Auto and have it on 19 or 20, for example, that's MAXIMUM sensitivity, not "lower" than Auto. Auto is variable but if you wanted to set it to "lower" than Auto, I would say you would be looking at something in the range of 10 to 15. If you're running at 16 to 19 then you are probably getting false signals from running it too high for the area.

Secondly, are you running the Noise Cancel each time you turn on the machine at a hunt spot before you start hunting? This is critical.

Lastly, keep the coil flat on the ground and don't "loft" the coil at the end of the swing. Keep your sweep speed slow and steady, like not more than a foot per second, slower even. And if you are wearing shoes with a steel shank, metal eyelets, or other hooks or metal that could also be your problem if the coil is coming too close to your shoes.

Oh, and if you're hunting the beach and running a coil cover, take off the coil cover and see if you have a bunch of salty sand in there. That will make it do funky things. If you have stuff getting trapped in the coil cover you need to clean it out frequently.

it at 16-19 I will try it a lower
But i think you are right i think that my sweep speed it to fast I am use to a Tesoro that i sweep at a good rate and I will try what you say about going like not more than a foot per second, slower even
and i will let you know what happens. I plan on going out Saturday and try it out. Need to get use to the quattro for a hunt coming up in just about two weeks

Thanks for the help

I used it in Auto the first couple of times I hunted with it and then went to manual and never went back.

I usually hunted in manual at 17...that seemed to work well in my hunt spots around here. At the beach, in the wet sand, I would run 18 and that worked great. If I went into the shallow water I would have top drop it to 17 or even 16. I think I went to 15 once at a rough iron-heavy site but I never tried it below that. I will be having the opportunity to test one in my coin garden soon, the way I did my Explorer II, so hopefully will have some info on running sens lower in tough hunt spots, particularly power line areas, as I have an underground line in close proximity to my buried coins that either mask targets on non-threshold machines or give fits to machines like the Quattro and the Explorer at higher sensitivity.

I also usually ran in either Coin/Jewelry or All Metal to reduce the amount of nulling. Basically, I would run the sens at whatever you can while being able to maintain a healthy and constant threshold, taking into account the breaks in it for iron and other targets that will interrupt it or if you're running something other than All Metal, any normal "nulling out".

I did find that Auto worked PRETTY good, often providing better depth as a lot of other machines. But I feel that for it to really shine, you need to come out of Auto, run it at 16 to 18, and slow down the sweep. Auto may be the way to go for iron-heavy ground or trashy spots, but in clean ground and at the beach, let that baby rip! :)
