Quattro w/new 8" coil hits a little jewelry this morning along with a little battery money..............

mtdoramike,
Beautiful Cross! I have some questions for you if you wouldn't mind answering them. What did your Quattro signal the cross at? 38-40? What Search Mode, not mood were you in when you found the cross? I'm not a rocket scientist, but it looks like you were hunting in a modern era park/area. Thanks, Jim W.

the park has been there since the early 1900's. My wife also found a 1911 "V" nickel last week at the same park.

Mtdoramike,
A sincere Thanks for the quick response. I have around 8 hours total search time on my stock Quattro with the 10 1/2" coil. I am very much trying to learn to properly use my Quattro. I know this question has been answered before, but does the 8" coil really make a significant difference in the trash filtering capability of your Quattro? Did you purchase a Minelab 8" coil? I have been hunting a modern era park. The main problem I have encountered, are the signals between 15-31. I have hit nothing but trash / mainly older pull tabs when I dig these signals. The screen will show metal & or silver. I have been strictly using the Coin mode, & religiously noise cancelling I am getting leery & l am starting to ignore these 15-31 signals. Does the 8" coil have an effect on the number of trash signals? On my 10 1/2" coil, a 32-37 signal is usually a memorial penny. The tried & true 38-40 signals, have always yielded coins, especially dimes or quarters. Your thoughts are appreciated. Jim W.

I have about the same amount of time on my Quattro as you. But, after about 4-5 hours on it, I decided quick, fast & in a hurry that I needed an 8" Concentric coil for it. I was pullin my hair out with the stock DD coil. I got tired of diggin holes and not finding the target. But I started getting better with the stock coil when I got the 8" coil.

Now, the 8" coil is for trashy areas, a heck of a lot better pinpointing and a might lighter as well. If you can find a used one like I did, then you can find one for about $125.00 or so, but new they run $189.00 at Kellyco detectors.

Now had I not gotten the 8" coil for the Quattro, I probably would have looked at the Quattro as a dog that won't hunt and gotten rid of it, but you have to give it time even with the DD coil. Because once you see what it can truely do, you will be liken the Quattro.

and much better then the 10" stock coil, but then it should since it's a smaller coil. But then the Stock coil isn't real bad in trash either if you go slow and take your time.
