Question about depth with x70

bfid

New member
Just went back and read the field report on the x70 in LT and it says he was finding coins at 8inch plus with sens at 16,and stock coil.
Am I missing something? Not possible with mine set at 16
I know air test are not reliable but could someone post there air test depths and settings on different coins?

My X-T 70 must be like yours, have never found a coin deeper than 6" yet. Coins laying on the ground won't air test over 6 1/2" and if sens. is set at 16, I'd be lucky to get 3" of depth. Have tried everything they have said to do on this forum to gain more depth all to no avail. Also often have to hit the pin-pointer button 2 or 3 times to get it to pin-point, the outer circle always comes up, but it won't pin-point. Intend to ship it to Vegas late this fall and get it tuned up. Have found a fair amt. of coins ($16.00) this spring, but nearly all were only in the 1 to 3" range, quite disappointed with the depth to say the least! Do like the X-T 70 other than that and intend to keep it. Did find an heavy .925 silver bracelet with 14 small diamonds mounted in it and a Sacagawea dollar coin nearby!

Check the FAQ at the top of the forum, all sorts of tests.

Out here in my area of New Mexico I can usually hunt at 22-26 sensitivity. I don't know much about the technical aspects of this hobby but I know this...To a certain extent I don't overly worry about extreme depth, ( however,I have found coins with my X-70 at around 8"). What I try to ensure is that my machine is properly set up at all times, which in turn will allow me to find what is there. If I haven't taken the time to properly GB, noise cancel, sens', level and select the right coil what can I expect???? IMHO I feel that too many folks worry too much about depth. I feel that the FAQFAQ section is saying this; Learn your machine, set your controls properly, a little tweak here and there and everything else should balance out. Enough of my ramblings.

8" with a sensitivity of 16, I do not believe it. I set my sensitivity down to about 15 or 16 when I do tot lots because it only goes about 4-5"

I knew mine wouldn't do it either.Thats what it said in his field test though. He musta got a hot one.lol
