Question about Explorer 2...

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm thinking of putting my probe from the XS I have on the XS 2.....am sure it will work, but what will have to be done to connect it because the shaft is different!! Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Well the absolute best thing you could do would be to send it in to Ralph at Sunray and have the components switched over to a EX II top shaft.
But .. you can also do this.
Take the EX II shaft and your X-1 probe shaft and line them up "side by side" exactly end to end as they would go into the control housing.
Next, take a scribe or something to mark with and transfer that 45 degree angle of the EX II shaft onto the X-1 probe shaft .. cut it with a fine tooth hack saw and don't forget to debur the edges.
I have one of these I converted and it fits like a glove <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
Good Luck

Sunray will not do the switch and that is for sure.
I have been using the EX1 shaft and probe in an Ex2 housing for a few months now with no problem. It's a very tight fit but will work.

What you will notice is the tight fit takes some of the tension out of the camlock, but either way the sucker is in there good. The only thing that mildly concerns me is that after a few months the lock does having a little more pressure so I think it has expanded a little. I have tried the EX2 upper recently and it still seemed to grab just as well but I never used it on a hunt. Anyway, I'm not too worried about it and so far so good.
