Question concerning soil mapping...

...according to the manual on page 27, it states you "may" be able to locate areas that have been dug, backfilled, or subjected to fire. Does anyone have any idea what Fe3o4 values you might be looking for? I'm thinking that a sudden change in the reading would be your first clue. Anyone have any feedback?

Tex was telling me that he used the T2 to locate fire pits and dumps before that way. He said you'll see a big spike in the FeO reading....
I have never tried this, but I took him to mean a spike as in more bars upwards?....
I think maybe a great way to test this would be to go to a known dump that has has some ash & stuff & walk through it & see what happens...
I'll try to do this if I can think of a convienient dump nearby. If we can figure it out, it could be a very useful trash pit tool...
There's someone on another forum calling this feature fluff that just ups the price of the detector:rolleyes: I happen to like knowing what type of ground I'm dealing with & how it changes. If it can find trash pits....well that's some "fluff" I'm all for!:) It's clear the guy has an agenda to another brand, and is doing his very best to desperately nitpick....
HH,
Bill

is that the "spikes" might be from a pit or other that is too deep to raise the FeO3 reading while just normal surface detecting. In this case you might be successful in determining if you need to dig deeper into this spot (pun intended) if you're listening to everything and when you hear a change in the amount of deep iron or chatter, then pump the coil over that area and compare the reading of that FeO3 vs what it was when you pump the coil over the more "typical" soil of the site which you should have done previously. Hope that makes sense.

AS long as your not banned, because I know you have a brain & seem engineering savvy....maybe you can straiten them out some:starwars: Actually the guy was taking aim mainly @ the F75 due to a past agenda against anything Fisher (& that it must be outselling his brand). But claiming the FeO reading was "useless" pertains to the T2 as well......go git 'em Matt:)

What a bunch of brand loyal blind putzs! I've always thought the ID detectors that offer any and all additional ground info (especially ones with ferrous info) offer an advantage to various degrees depending on the site and what is being sought. Let's see, hardly no one used and appreciated the visual (and numeric with the latter two) target's ferrous info with the Explorer I, II, and SE. Yeah, right! And now we get two detectors (T-2, F-75) that have fast full time target ferrous info AND ground phase readings and it's just bells, whistles and fluff? Puh-leeeese.

but the guy totally gave himself away & blew his cover by stating in a follow-up post......"I'd never use a Fisher anyhow".

It seems that most are giving some pretty interesting and positive feedback on both machines. Ronnie (The original  Mayor)has brought up some interesting subjects also besides the current T2 and F75 machines. Sounds like they will be doing some comparisons soon and that should be interesting and entertaining to say the least. All in all I think the tech forum is the best forum they have going for themselves over there. Hopefully the garbage stays out of it.

A buddy of mine has the T2 and it is an incrdable machine. The only flaw I see that might exist is the sturdiness. Maybe this was just an isolated incident. Good digging you guys.

since I've been banned infinitum I don't get to see the actual goings on over there. :D Good, well informed detector comparisons based on personal experience with MANY detectors is very near and dear to my heart. The "I've used three detectors over the years and my current detector is the best and oh by the way you suk if you don't use it" is not. Ron blows a lot of his credibility, at least in my book, by going out of his way to rub people wrong and then acting like they're being unreasonable when they don't just take all he says to heart. His choice.

Not much of the 3 detector mentality from the King has reared up...Yet! I hope it don't happen, but if it does...nobody will object and that will be the end of the credability of that forum as well. The king of buttons has promised a step by step button cleaning process weeks ago which of course has never materialized....and nobody dares ask why

I was BFL'd years ago as well for no good reason, but it's difficult to ban AOL from reading. Besides it's good for the hit count. So far the forum has had some solid and entertaining information.

who basicaly said....all T2/F75 banter is good, free promotion. Even if we don't agree with the "The one, The only's" style, it's still good promotion. Plus, when the Button Dad talks up the F75, the wannabe's listen up! (look how they all bought up that tesoro to basically fit in). Again, it's all super good promotion & keeps everyone talking (even when someone with an agenda claims it can't hit a tilted coin).....
I was always looked at as a decent FRL promotions guy. Often I felt like I had to really step up & lead the charge on a new unit.....
Now I can just kick back & let them go to town over there in BFLville:laugh:
