Question for Butch or any PC folks, I am ............

going to partition my hard drive on my iMac so I can install Windows XP Pro with service Pack 2, my reason is that I want to use it for my Canon video recorder and Blackberry cell phone after shooting videos so I can get full use of all their desktop functions once I download the videos to my Imac, editing, photo shopping and so on.

My question is when I partition the Hard Drive, it will ask me how much space do I want to partition for Windows, anywhere from 5 GB's to 32 GB's max, my hard drive has 227 GB's and 197 free GB's of space.

I will only be using Windows for things like the video cam and cell phone and maybe my camera, can I use just 5 GB's and will this be OK or should I go ahead and partition 32 GB's, thanks for any input!

Hoop?

Won't the software that you want to use run under the Mac OS?

Or .... can you get a version of the software that will run under it?

Seems sorta crazy to have to run a "dual-lee" type operating sys for just one or two applications...

Answer to your question... always, always make your new partition as large as you can afford.... before you know it, you'll run outta disk space and wish you had done so!!

Based on your available space on hand... go with a figure larger than 5 gigs... you'll blow thru that inna heartbeat... especially if you'll be doing any archiving of "raw" video files ;)

Hope this helps.....

duh Gaf

PS Sorta like when we're in the studio recording.... the recorders have 24 tracks available... and we get an idea for another take...

OOPS!! There aint no 25th track available!! Shouldda bought that 96 track machine!!

http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/ Just a suggestion.

If you are not going to run very many apps in the Windows environment, then 32 Gb will be way more than enough and with as much drive space that your currently have, you won't miss that small of a partition.
