Question for Eric on PI's.....

Is your new White's PI going to have the ability to Tone ID at depth and/or be able to discriminate out iron and be used for coin shooting deeper than existing VLF's? I bought a Pulse Star 2 with that claim which fell a little short of expectations:rofl:. I have several old fair grounds (1850-1910), that with my EX SE's I have thoroughly cleaned to the point that I can swing a 15 inch coil for 2-3 hours in between good targets now. I have pulled several hundred Indians and about 200 silver Seated from these fields in the last year. It's disappointing to see it come to an end. These are farm fields and due to the "no till" philosophy of current farming they no longer plow or turn over the soil, so if one wants to find any more decent finds, they would need either a machine that went deeper with iron discrimination than the current Explorer or a machine with comparable depth that could react faster in the areas infested with iron for better separation (bought the F-75 for that/ no go:thumbdown:). My question on the subject of PI is if your new machine will fit the bill and if there is currently a machine available now that will work until then? Sorry for the lengthy post, I know your busy and thank you for any advice that you might have.:detecting:

Hi,

I'll take a shot at it for Eric. The White's PI does not have iron discrimination. The truth is I've never used a VLF with perfect iron discrimination.

The disc on the PI is relative to the ground balance point. A lot of iron can be discriminated out if you are after high conductive targets. But there are large iron items that will also read good. With experience you can sort some of these out but you will still get folled now and then.

All those disclaimers aside, I'd love to fly down and visit your location with the White's TDI. I'm sure I'd dig some junk, but I'm just as sure I'd make some good finds. Whether the trash to good finds ratio is acceptable or not will depend on the location and the operator.
