i was wondering if you knew if anyone had built a large coil for the cs7umd. i think i heard that you designed the circuit for it. if so, could you tell me what gauge wire, and # of turns i would need to build a 24" coil for the cs7umd. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, mark

Hi Mark,
I don't know of anyone who has built a larger coil for the CS7. There is no reason why a coil such as a 24in should not be possible, but you would get a much bigger signal from the surrounding sea water. This may mean turning the frequency control back to give a longer pulse delay. A larger coil will also pick up more electrical noise, so you may find that the threshold burbles a bit more.
You want to aim for an inductance between 0.8 and 1mH and wind the coil with 0.25mm diameter enamelled wire. Use the solderable enamel to make life easier. I would guess about 25 turns as a starting point.
Eric.
