Two CZ7a Pros and have had a CS7, HH PI and a Surfmaster PI...and have had 15 to 20 others. I have quiet a few hours logged at many of the beaches of Florida, GA, SC, NC, TX, WA, OR...I can keep going...My wife and I live in our Motor Home and detect in lots of places,,,,I spend 6 months in Florida every winter...
The Whites PI, CS7 cannot touch the Goldquest SS for Depth and sens to gold, they are not in the ball park. The HH PI was sens. to gold and deeper but not as deep as the Goldquest SS nor as sens. to gold. I am getting 14+ inches on an air test with the Goldquest SS. With the new headhones I bought for it and just received I believe it is better than 14" but have not proved it yet to myself. Since my CZ20 is a 8" coil and my Excalibur is a 10" it is not apples to apples but I give the edge to the Minelab for depth by maybe an 1", 20 to 30 % better on ID of iron. But the Excalibur and the CZ20 cannot be compared or even should not be compared to the Goldquest SS for depth and sens. to gold, they do not have a chance. However on a junk filled beach and iron filled beach I will grab either of the two VLF's because at approaching 60 in age I am getting lazy. However on a beach that there are plenty of guys working the dry and wet sand and I am following behind them I will take a HH PI or the Goldquest SS behind them and dig many targets in an area of the sub-earth their detectors do not know is there. In more mineralized beaches on the the PI's will prevail...
I would not own a Goldquest SS for my only detector, it is not an all-around detector...a spoon used in soup is the desired tool and not a knife. I will go behind VLF all day and know I will be digging deeper targets and some bad one's but it only takes 1 gold ring for me to come home smiling...One very fine gold ring will make my week and month and maybe a year highlights.
I personally prefer the Goldquest SS over any PI I have bought, I have not seen, used a Aquastar but would love to have one. It is an additional tool.
PS...Bill did not discount me one penny on my purchase... I hope I am now making him feel bad because he didn't with this report...but then if he did I would owe him something...I don't, this is just the way I see it and am saying so...(smile)...
PPSS...If you are interested in a used Goldquest SS...I will be trading mine in to Bill when Mr. Foster waterproof's a Goldquest (That is a hint) If Mr. Foster includes internal sample testing with 2 or 3 tones I may buy one for my wife. (I am sneaky smart...hehehehehee)
