Question for T2 users

I am hunting a recreational water spot and i was wondering what an average womens gold wedding ring would vid at on a T2..
I dont have one to test with...Never found 1 and i usually hunt historic sites..
John

Jbg - A small women's 14k ring would normally ID around 53-56. A man's heavier gold ring will be mid 60's.

53 54 55 56

Thanks guys now does the womens ring with a diamond give off that shotgun shell kind of tone with the 2+ mode running..Alot of times i dont dig that low of a signal if its a busy area.
John

Certainly this will confine your search to the gold rings we might find on adult women (married) as well as those which might have valuable stones (engagement ring) or just the band (wedding ring). It does tend to eliminate recovery of smaller-size (smaller females from infants, young children and girls) women's rings, and non-wedding rings, such as school class rings or flashy, fancy-dress rings. I just checked some 14K rings on the T2 and plain bands or those with stones fell in the 51 to 58 VDI range.

The VDI (Visual Discrimination Indicator) numbers I have had from some smaller-size gold rings have been as low recently as 43 to 48, and some of the larger gold rings have produced a VDI in the 58 to 66 numeric range. You also asked for women's wedding rings and not men's gold rings. I have found most of them to 'read' somewhat higher than the average US 5

Now im actually bummed because i never dig thise low vdi numbers.Even if they repeat. It seems like every time i do,on a historic site, it seems to be junk.
I found a average size womens silver friendship ring not long ago and the vdi was around 80-81...Is silver a higher conducter than gold? This is probably my next step in this metal detecting adventure of mine.Any tips on hunting the lakes and ponds when the water receeds...The ground balance is around 80 at this particular lake..Im so settled in the 2+ mode that i never use anything else...Disc always 0..And i run around 90-93 sensitivity..
Thank again all.
John

We started out with a query about 'average' women's gold wedding rings. They can fall in a little tighter range, perhaps, than considering ALL gold rings. Gold rings, and other jewelry, can range from upper iron zone through Foil, US 5

in the low vdi numbers. For every engagement "solitaire" type ring I have found there have been numerous medallions, charms and other asst'd small gold finds turn up in the same and lower numbers. Engagement rings are a rare find for me however by not digging those low numbers I would have missed those other finds many times with a nice gold chain attached.

My motto when wading and beach hunting is to dig everything that is not obviously iron.

Monte could you repeat that again??
Great answer Monte..
Alot more holes to dig with those low vdi readings.Im sure some time in the field will improve my skills in the jewelry area.
