Question: For those who bought the F5/F70 and have used both the standard 10" concentric and 11" double "D" coil---

---How many would've preferred the F5/F70 with the 11" double "D" coil as standard equipment instead of the 10" concentric it comes with?

I prefer the stock 10" elliptical over the 11" DD on the F5. I like that style concentric coil and I don't like the balance of the F5 with the 11" coil.
I prefer the 11"DD over the 10" stock elliptical on the Omega.
Can not say anything about the F70.
My opinion.

I used the F5 quite a lot, but they were pretty late in the game getting the 11" DD out the door for it, and by that time I no longer had the F5.

I also have (still have) the F70 and I thought the 11" DD was a tremendous upgrade for it. It was much quieter, better in trash, and added another 1-2" of depth.

Obviously most would probably prefer the DD to be the stock coil (if nothing else the concentric is a cheaper upgrade then the DD), but I somewhat suspect FRL worried that equipping the F70 with the 11" DD would be too competitive for the F75 as the F70 becomes the F75's equal with the 11" DD.

I have all three coils for the F5 and it is a good midrange detector. The F5 maxes out at 10 " with the 10 inch elipetical and the 11 " DD. 1 am in VA and the soil varies quite alot the 5 inch is a max depth of 7" .

Take care

Have been running my F70 with the DD 11" for the past couple weeks. I built a test field and ran the unit many times over with each coil to compare, switching coils many times. Got slightly deeper results on small targets with the stock eliptical. Less chatter running 90+ on the sensitivity with the stock coil and better ID's in trashy/multi target stuff. The DD give a longer search sweep and hits better on large objects. I've been looking for an earing my woman lost, using the remaining one to tune the F70 to it......the stock coil provides a much stronger signal compared to the DD on this particular tiny piece of jewelry. I think for big areas I'm gonna run the DD and for tighter/trashy areas it will be the stock coil.
