Question for Uncle Willy?

Flintstone

Well-known member
Hi Uncle Willy you seam to know alot about detecting so though i would ask. I just got a Garrett's ADS 7, I know it is a old detector but sometimes old is better. I was tolded that it is a killer on silver. Anyway is the hot head coil better than a regular coil? I got both with the detector. Would like any help anyone could give, I don,t have a manual. Thanks for any help Dean

Here's a link to what I believe is the owners manual (PDF file)

Here's a link to Lost Treasure Magazine field test on the ADS 7 from 1985

I've never owned this particular machine, but I'm sure that there are others on this forum that will chime in with some advice. You can also use the search tool and look at posts in the archives of this forum.

Hope this helps. Happy Hunting:)

Thanks Metalhead, I can use all the help i can get. If anyone else can let me know about the coils please do. Thanks again Dean

All the Hothead is - is a larger coil. A factory one of the same size will give the same performance. What size is the Hothead and what size is the standard coil on the ADS? The old ADS is still a great coin getter. Good luck. I've probably got a field test on it around hear somewhere or you can go to ( losttreasure.com ) and check out their field test section and see if there is one there. I've got a few over there but not on that machine
