question on headphones and coin hunting

I'm thinking about buying the xp deus but I have a few questions can I used my killer Bs headphones if I buy the 1/8 to 1/4 adapter. all I hunt for is coins mostly looking for the old ones I hunt old houses old parks some bean and corn fields is this a good detector for coin hunting. or is this the wrong choice of machine for coin hunting please explain before I buy one

thanks tony

If you buy the WS4 and the adapter clip(~$20) you can run whichever headphones you wish with the correct size plug adapter. It is 1/8" female so you can run the XP wired phones "wirelessly" or with the 1/8 to 1/4 plug adapter you can run your Killer Bs. For some reason my GGUltimates did not sound right,,,,I believe they have 150ohm speakers as do the Killer Bs and it seemed the WS4 didn't have sufficient power to drive them. Both the WS4 and 5 speakers as well as the wired backphones are 32 ohm. If you buy the Deus with just the remote you can run headphones off of the plug jack in the bottom of the controller (1/8 ) but it's not very ergonomic and hits your hand when the controller is mounted on the shaft. Of course you can always put the controller in your pocket or on your belt and detect that way as well.

As far as coin hunting goes I think it as good as any in the right hands but that's a subjective question. My opinion is that the Deus struggles in modern trash when compared to other units but may be superior in iron.

Not all headphones will sound the same,,, nor will all give what I call good higher pitch tone clarity. So far the best I've used in this regard are the Vance Deus modified headphones.

They produce the good higher pitch--- something I find very valuable and useful when looking for the deeper coins,, and working areas loaded with iron and nails using full tones.

WS4 back phones also sound good too--- but if windy or in a noisy environment they suffer.

Ws5 and grey ghost Deus modified --- don't provide high enough pitch sound for me.

Cheers.

I now the parks have a lot of modern trash but will I still find coin with a lot of trash and will the 11" coil be bad for this.. what would be the best detector for modern trash

Its a good detector but dont expect to go by the number vdi for coins. Its useless as far as im concerned and hope the new update fixes that. I was detecting today and copper lincolns and clad dimes gave same number. Clad quarters 89 90 and Bottle caps read 95 and will fool you. I tend to prefer my makro racer the more I use it. I can tell what coin im digging with it better then my deus with 9 inch coil. As a relic detector I think its about the best you can get but coins im just not that impressed on vdi. Good luck and be sure and shop around as there are some dealers that are way higher than others.
