Question on hunting ball fields and sports parks.

Hey all, I have a lot of ball fields and some sport parks with baseball, basket ball, soccer, tennis to maybe hunt. I know of a 1970's built middle school that's only 20 minutes from me. What stands out is a baseball field discontinued of use but still mowed nice and short. Looks like they just built a bigger better looking field nearby. I know for fact prior to the 70's it was farmland. Hole place is sitting right on the farm fields but where the farm houses and all the out buildings were are completely covered by the 1970's school and pavement. I saw an old pic from 64 and the ball fields including the discontinued field was the planting fields.
How would you guys first hunt the place? There is so much space and me and my little digger coil. I appreciate any suggestions or anything, like maybe some of y'all hunted a similar site. Where to concentrate the first few hrs. I'm a little puzzled on this one.

Right around the backstop, and along the sidelines where players & spectators would have been. Also anywhere nearby that there is an old shade tree.
The rest is pretty much a crap shoot, and not likely to produce much.

You got to start some place. Keep working areas till you see some good finds. It's trial and error on each hunt that will get you in the right spot.....and what Mark said!! GL
