Question on the Explorer 11

Johnny

New member
When your using digital and you go over a coin and the No. sometimes will change like ( 03-28,04-28,07-2:geek: is that mean that the coin is turned or on edge?? Are is that something you just have to deal with.

Heck the ground is loaded with junk and can alter any signal from any unit and certainly doesn't mean the coin is turned but it sure could be an indication as a flat coin will give a more precise number..What I usually do if I get something in the ballpark relative a good number is do the wiggle which originated with the Sov..Basically pinpoint the target and wiggle the coil to the left and right in short strokes and you should get a more precise reading..Even so all readings are not always right on the button so use your Smart screen and audio to further evaluate the target and your call to dig or not.
If new to an explorer I would do a lot of digging and if good hits are far and few between time to go for the iffies...Again those those that investigate and sometimes one just gets that gut feeling gets the ones others pass up..Explorer is a fine unit but remember it can be fooled and its your call and after a while you will just know its junk thru time in the field.....

You are going to get some variation I guess it depends on the ground or the condition of the coin. I know down here in FL my quarters read from 00-28 to 02-29, they are all solid signals and always quarters, Today I dug a .925 heavy ring that read 01-30. Also sometimes when you get 2 or 3 quarters in the same hole it might read 00-26. Botton line is if it is pretty close-DIG IT...

johnny, ellis hendrix here,,i bought my sovxs in 1996 and had a rough time learning it and the wiggle.the wiggle is left to right movement which will be no more than about a 1/2 inch space, rapid movement almost like shaking it.pull the coil back toward you as you wiggle and you will notice your numbers dropping when target gets to tip of coil.NOW having said that,,i just bought the se and put the 4.5x7''on.i have noticed the same thing about the numbers as you have described.i guess it takes time and dig a lot of trash to get acquainted with iti i don't have many clean places to hunt so looks like i'm in hot water for awhile.but i love it,and will overcome in time.keep diggin'and good luck.if you learn about the numbers let me know.hh :clapping::wave:

Yeah, that is the reason I use the smartfind screen exclusively, it is easier for me to make sense when the cursor bounces across the screen.

Well, if they would make the display bigger and easier to see I might give that a try too. Until then it's digital and dig all the close ones
