Question on the F 44

Hi John,
Let me list the F series detectors in order; F11, F2, F22, F4, F44, F5, F70, F75, F75LTD.

As you can see, the F44 is several steps below the F75 which is Fisher's flagship detector. So no, the F44 is not going to be as good as the F75. I'm not going to contrast the two units as you can download their manuals and contrast them yourself.

The F44 is a decent detector, though, and I like the feature set. I love being able to set the tones the way I want them. The best advice I could give someone on the F44 is to get the 7" concentric coil with it. That little coil is a great coil and isn't very expensive and I consider it a "must have" with the new F-22/F44 units. I like it on the Omega, too..

I have been wanting to write more about the F44 but just haven't made the time to do so. So much going on (my wife got a new hip for Christmas)

I'll try to put more in writting and share it when I get back online sometime Sunday.

HH
Mike

I have an F44 and an F5. I've never used the F75. As Mike pointed out the F44 is further down the pecking order. I found a lot of good stuff with it but it would never become my go to detector. I've had a love hate relationship with this detector from day one. Mine chatters like there is no tomorrow and I never use it at full sensitivity. I've learned to use custom mode because the preset modes drive me bonkers with the noise. I love my F5 a lot more, I mean a lot more. It's so much quieter. I can't hunt with the F5 in the rain and I've done it many times with the F44 so It has its uses. It's very very light, has volume control, customizable tone settings (like Mike mentioned), a back light (practical at times) and of course a weather proof control box. The feature set makes it really hard to beat for the price. For me, it's just not as enjoyable to use day to day as my F5. I find the constant sounds it makes to be very disconcerting.

It also runs on only 2 AA's for many many hours which is great.
