question on the white pi dual field

picked up a white pi dual field for a back up for my excal.took it out for a test run and was wandering are all double beeps a bobby pin?

Not all. Some are wire, fish hooks, berets,..... Maybe a necklace? But usually double beeps are trash. Just like any other detecting, if you haven't dug anything in a while check it out. If you have been digging and are tired pass it up. Keep the PI in the water. Less trash. You have two great detectors. Let us know which one gets the most closet time.

had them both in the water yesterday excal got two silver rings and one gold ring the white dual field got change and 12 bobby pins. I'm not sure that the dual field goes deeper than the excal or not , more testing needed:confused:

Despite what the hoards of detectorists will say, double clicks are not always iron. These people are too ingrained in their ways from using vlf machines. Often times they are nickels, occasionally pennies, and sometimes multiple targets close to eachother. You can use the pulse delay to make your machine mask iron, but it loses depth. With the dual field you just have to dig it all. You get better depth and great sensitivity to low conductors with a big coil coverage area, but you just have to dig that iron.

The DF isn't learned after a couple of hunts... and it is deeper than the Excal.. I hunt with the GT as well as my DF and can see the difference ... you want to listen for whispers, some of these whispers are like a drop out in the threshold a silent spot ... with my pulse I listen for whispers but also narrow sounding targets... a broken signal with the DF will not be a chain its usually wire or sparkler sticks and nails... don't dig any wide tones they are usually can tops or a piece of iron... a pulse is a very good machine to go along with the Excal...

A Gold ring with a broken band will give a short bouble beep, so listen closely, a londer double beep is usually nails, bobbie pins etc.
Good Luck its a great machine, goes deeeeep!

I want to thank everybody for your input.I'm definitely not giving up on the dual field.I can see were there are certain situations that the dual field would be a better choice than my excal.been using the excal for 6 years and I'm more used to it thanks Mike
