Question on the Xterra 305

I have the Xterra 305 and I'm wondering if there is a good coil for the beaches of Maine.
All detectors are good in the dry sand, but when you get into the wet sand they act up.
Been considering the Garrett Sea Hunter, or Detector Pro series, but still wondering if there's a coil that would handle
salt water situations with the 305.

The best coils for beaches would be one of the HF DD coils. The HF coils are hot on jewelry and coins, and the DD design works well to neutralize the effects of conductive and magnetic mineralization. But your "problem" may not be with the frequency as much as it will be maintaining a proper ground balance. The X-70 and 705 offer Tracking and Beach Tracking, which allows the user to work from wet to dry sand while maintaining a consistent GB. HH Randy

Not even close. Same as any VLF machine. If depth is your goal in the wet stuff, then a multi frequency Minelab or Garrett Infinium is the way to go, but for a cheapy, the 305 does an alright job.
