Questions 'bout F75LTD "Sensitivity"...

PulltabPirate

I hear of so many guys running their F75's as hot as possible. I'm dealing with EMI and good ole Ga. red clay & MUST back off on my sensitivity setting, sometimes a lot to get a stable machine. I guess what I'm asking for is HOW MUCH am I having to sacrifice "Depth wise" when I have to drop sens down to the 60's or even lower? :pulltab:

None actually. EMI instability makes you loose the targets due to the noise. A stable machine finds all the targets it can see an Gives a signal.

Sometimes less sensitivity is better.

It doesn't always work, but do a frequency shift in all metal and settle on the quietest frequency. That frequency will carry over to disc if you don't use all metal. My ground over here in W Tn is not like yours, but I have dug dimes 7" with the 5" coil with a sen setting of 40 in bp mode....and the audio was good. As Elton more or less mentioned, you can't dig something you can't hear. HH jim tn

Its more important to be "somewhat" stable then to have sens cranked trying to get a extra 1/2". There is no formula on depth vs sens as there are WAY to many factors involved. You will be surprised, as said many times here, the depth you will get at a very low sens setting. Trust your machine.
