Racer 2

Ok.....I bit the bullet and ordered up the Racer 2. The waiting is the hardest part...by Tom Petty....

You, sold my AT Pro and ordered a Racer 2. I'm down to just my E-Trac and I got tot lots to hunt. This should be interesting.

for some reason no one is showing the in ground depth testing , so I am holding back for now ,

LOL Hey Southwind, how ya been doing. Well we again have something in common, for the time being.............waiting for the R2. :beers: I did get a chance to play with the R2 that Monte received for testing and evaluation. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say....I think you will be pleased with this machine. As good as the Red Racer is ( ergonomically challenged though) using the standard or larger 13 x 15 coils became uncomfortable fast. I would upgrade to the R2 just for the new hand grip angle that they did and the new standard coil designed to be the same as the Fors CoRe. Add in the new features that the R2 will have, sure makes it a nice unit. Personally I was really glad to see the "iron audio volume" feature added, for the iron infested sites I like to hunt. The "deep" mode I think will also be a nice feature that a lot of people are going to enjoy.

Boy !!! the pain must be awful to be down to only one machine, even more painful that its an E Trac  hang in there though, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a train.....its a Racer 2.

I watched a video where Bill Ladd did an in the ground test in black beach sand with a minie ball using the red racer. It hit good a 13". He also did a quarter in the same soil. It hit good at 10". The gal he was with had an Mxt. He didn't show whether she had tried the quarter or not but that made me lean towards the Racer 2. Besides, I like trying different detectors.

Yeah Gregg I haven't been down to just one detector in like 10 years. I'm in panic mode LOL.

I liked the Racer but I was just more familiar with the AT Pro so I sold it. Bought another Racer for a second try, and sold it and then a third and sold it. Just didn't see enough over the AT Pro to justify giving up the Garrett. I like what I've seen so far on the Racer 2. Iron audio control, more tone and notching abilities, and most of all it sounds more stable. I plan to make it my tot lot king. E-Tracs just going to have to play tot lot until I get the Racer 2. I think it will do OK on the bigger gold but I know it doesn't do well on the earrings, pendants and chains.

Wouldn't be so bad but my year started out really messed up. I was in the hospital from December 31st to January 5th. Had to hit the ER 5 times. Needless to say I've got a bit of a hospital bill to pay off before I can start restocking my detectors.

Sorry to hear about that. This getting old nonsense sure suks. I hope you get recouped fast and ready to go when Spring hits. Yep I hit 51 this summer and its like damn.....where did all the time go. I still do research in the Winter time, but now its not for sites to hunt but Nurse'n homes :sadwalk: Well Southwind get better, get out and use the Racer 2 and curious of your thoughts when ya get a chance to swing it.
