Racer at very pounded park and school..

Im really liking this detector.. it is proving to be one of the better detectors ive used. My f75ltd2 is relaxing while i learn the racer.. found a 53 half dollar at a hunted out school yard.. 6"deep and right above a chunk of pipe.. good solid signal.. was only there a few min due to sweat getting in my eyes.. hot day! Couple days later at my hunted to death park found a 42 silver nickle and a 42 quarter and some wheaties.. wasnt there too long either.. great tones and depth.. hard to put this machine down.

Congrats on your limited hunt-time success, Bill, and I know what you mean by conditions being too hot. :stretcher: I am more than ready for a comfortable fall season to arrive.

Out of curiosity, would you mind mentioning what coil was mounted and what mode and settings you used in your searches? I think others would enjoy hearing how we set up our detectors, and I know I am always curious myself.

Thanks, and I wish you the best of success on your next foray afield.

Monte

Settings were sens 80, disc 23, tones 3 then sens 85, disc 0, tones 2.. i hunt in 3 tones then if i get an iffy signal i switch to 2 tones to check it... i used 11x7 at school yard and 5.5x10 at park.. i mainly use the 5.5x10 coil..

I have found the iffy targets can be real winners don't let iron mix make you move on..I use two tone and dig and dig and dig

Really liking the 5.5 x 10 coil..........does great in trash. If it gets too trashy then i just pop the OOR coil on. But like you I use the 5.5 x 10 a lot. The 11 x 7 is new and still hanging on the wall.....hasn't seen any use yet .
I like the 3 tone, 70 gain and iron masking at 10 and listen for the mid and high tones. Today in somewhat of a iron infested/trashy old ghost town used the Racer w/5.5 x10 coil.....found me a couple nice trade tokens and a 1899 barber dime.

Yeah hard to beat the racer is right up there with the big boys:surprised:

Finally found a "lost " little ghost town this morning. Took awhile to get back into the site ....I see why they lost it. Anyhow, grabbed the Racer w/5.5x10 coil and started searching. I got into a really iron infested/rusted tin area and should have had the "OOR" coil on but didn't wanna walk all the way back to the truck to get it. So I did slow methodical sweeps and got a signal. Numbers were jumpy due to the amount of ferrous trash but it would flash a 82 then a 84-85 along with the high tone. Dug a small plug and out pops this little beauty. Made for an exciting morning. Is only my second seated coin I have found and my 1st seated coin that I have found in Oregon, the other being on Montes NV trip earlier this year. The seated quarter is a 1861S . Racer is a heck of a machine when dealing with iron infested sites...it gets the job done.

Way to go I know the feeling and never get tired of it. That is some history that was going to sit in the ground for another 100 years untill you rescused it..:beers:

Beautiful key date coin! Hoping to find one like it on Monte's next trip.

Thanks Guys, it was exciting to finally get my 1st seated quarter. LOL I'm ashamed to say that I almost experienced a " Diggers" moment. I even thought about doing a few cart wheels..............but thank goodness I contained my composer

Great find OregonGregg, looks like a great detecting spot

I looked up your quarter, and I think it may have paid for your Racer :surprised:

Brian
