a couple of wheaties, clads, and a maybe lead , or pewter "whatzit"

Not sure about the condition of the face..is that more encrustation...or is it the silver "peeling" away?

the reverse is in much better condition ....I think it has to do with the way it was laying on the ocean floor.

Afraid to clean it...don't want to ruin it any further, but if that is encrustation , I would like to remove it...

any suggestions/advice?? from the pros who know about coin care?

I wouldn't think the silver would disappear from the coin, as they are mostly silver and not other metal that would corrupt! Maybe others know whether or not you can clean it without damage! It should clean up just like your Seated Liberty Quarter, but don't take my word for it, as it could be very valuable.....would have to check the date in the coin book and I don't have an updated one! But nice find and silver again!

You are really getting the silver even if it is in bad condition! The divers find silver like that too and I guess they have professionals to clean all the encrustacian and blackness from them! I have some pcs of eight that I got from being in on one summers ocean detecting but they were already cleaned by the time I got my share from the division according to the money involved! I also won a pc of eight and I purchased one from Roy Volker, who was the Chairman of the Board but has since passed away!

So that's it for me.....sorry I am not much help!

God Bless!

The crust will likely come off. Just do what you do to clean the others. :)
