Ran into probable EMI this afternoon

Was out at one of my familiar school yards today. Was sweeping along the side of a sidewalk that has produced some nice rings in past years. As I headed towards the school with a transformer in a little fenced area next to it, the F75 LTD started to chatter; a lot. Moved sensitivity from 50 down to 20 and then stepped through all the frequencies. Those actions did not help. Walking away from the area did. I was about 60 to 70 yards from the transformer and could not get closer. It was a pretty narrow range of distance from working well to it all going very ugly. Sensitivity setting did not seem to make much difference. Transformer is probably noisy, since the one in the local park does not affect the LTD near as bad.

Took out the Tejon to finish the sidewalk area sweep and it was not bothered. Could run sensitivity on the Tejon just into the red. Got some change and the usual foil, but nothing great.

On the positive side, a little further away from the transformer, the LTD hit a 1962 penny that came out of the ground real green colored. It was between 10 and 11 inches down. ID bounced from 62 to 73 but sounded good in BP. I switch to CL, slowed the sweep down and the ID stabilized a bit to around 69 to 73, but the tone for me was better in BP. This school has been graded a couple of times over the last few decades with lots of top soil added in some areas. GB is pretty consistent 68 to 69. Found many deep modern coins here over the last few years. Would like to find more rings.

LTD is impressive, but I think I will be carrying a back up most of the time.
