RE: 6 1/2' cable on 10" coil

been runnin this rig for 6 or 7 yrs now.....works great! yea I know it aint FTE BUT......lol, you get the idea. I had to sacrifice a 7" widescan tesoro coil to get the additional length needed. Only exposed enuff inner wires and copper to do the solder points and shrink tubing, then had a larger 6" length shrink tubing for the main cable wire...... I loaded the shrink tubing with generous amounts of silicone(good quality) and shrank it down ....a little extra on ea end to seal it tight. I used an awl to make a hole thru the headphone band (careful not to cut the wire that runs thru) and used the factory screw from the shaft and a washer on the bottom to hold secure....it was placed in a heavy duty ziplok bag to hold out moisture . The corner of the baggie is clipped to run the wires out, and elec tape wrapped around the hole and wires to (again) keep out moisture.

now ...for those of you who cant imagine why FTE would come out with a gold machine coil w/that long of a cable...its for idiots like me that now have to buy a GB or G2, to go along with that new coil ;-)

I had to look at that setup a couple of times. I think the XP Deus or Headhunter desgins may have been inspired by your design! Awesome. How do you keep it on your head? Chinstrap, velcro?

I did something similar, I mounted a Cibola on a hard hat, and just used the speaker, dint need phones with the speaker that close to my head,

That would work too. I had considered using a ball cap, but couldnt quite get it to work right. what type of coil did you use and what was the length of the cable?

I used a 5x10 DD eliptical & I think the cable was 6 1/2 feet, what ever it was, it was long enough for me since I am only 5' 8"
