Hi All experimenters,
Since this is sort of an advertisement, I hope people do not get offended, but it borders on non-profit and doesn't conflict with any of the advertizers of this forum. So, hopefully it will be accepted ok.
A good friend of mine, Bill Hays of Hays Electronics has sort of got wrapped up in the enthusiasm shown by people interested in building their own coils and kits that he has offered to make ABS plastic vacuum formed coil housings for a really reasonable fee.
Please note, that the prices are set to help the individual experimenter to get started. He is not equipped to mass produce the covers, but will make them in very small quantities for those who may want more than one. Also, due to personal and business needs, this offer will probably be limited in time.
He is presently offering two different sizes of coil housings, an 11" and an 8". The prices are $14.50 for the 11" and $12.50 for the 8". The price includes a cord strain relief and also includes the cost of shipping within the U.S. Foreign shipping would be extra.
As Bill told me, the metal detector industry has been very good to him over the last 50 years that he has been in business, and he remembers the difficulty of trying to come up with some form of coil housing when he was first starting out. As he stated, this is his way of sort of paying back the industry and the people for being good to him.
Bill can be contacted by phone at 1-928-772-2624 or a person can email him from his website noted below. Since this is a new idea of Bill's, the covers are not listed on his website.
A little more information about the housings is posted on the forum on Geotechnology website.
