Wow, that's an awesome find! I showed my wife (she's a Rev.War / Colonial era buff), and she loved it. Also asked me why I can't find one (thanks Steve, haha). Do you know what these were used for? Were they sewn in place of regular buttons, or what? I dug this button about a year ago and was wondering the same thing. The button looks better than the pic. It reads:
McKINLEY AND ROOSEVELT
with a star above and below the "AND".
