Re Hip Mount - Guard set up?

I have a question on the Hip Mount set up.


I am right handed and hang the unit on my right side with the lead for the coil facing forward and the headphones lead facing backwards ( naturally) I have the Knob guard ( Pluggers) installed it's on the outside (so its not against my body) I figure if its going to be knocked it would be from the scoop or something from the outside in not inside out.. ( I thought this makes sense) The issue I have is that the knob guard does not really line up with the knobs when its on this way but does when its mounted on the inside near my body ( But this leaves the knobs exposed from outside knocks.

Also I was told that the hip mount will wear out the coil cable is this true

Any clarification on this would be Appreciated.

I'm also right handed, but have the unit on my left hip. That way al your problems will be solved.

That was a simple fix threw it on the left hip guard on the outside and works a treat.. Sometime the best answers are the simplest.

Hi Sir Findalot, I hip mount mine also but use a meter and yes I have problems with my plug which is very similar to the coil plug. I haven't narrowed it down to what exactly the problem is yet but am leaning towards a broken wire. I had someone cut the plug off and re-solder but I still have the problem. A fellow on this forum (with many years experience) still believes it's a broken wire and I need to cut back even further but haven't done it yet. Anyway, Minelab recomends that you loop the coil wire or meter wire around the belt loop a couple times to eliminate the stress and pulling on the wire.
