Re: My New Ride, but don't get one, it's just good on gas, that's about it...There are 25 more days before Spring in the North East...Hi Ma Betty...Re

Hi All

Well, SPRING is around the corner, and I have never had such a good time hunting in the winter time with most of the degree days in the upper 30's & 40's, and even 50's and not much snow this winter, because it melts before it can do any damage to our hunting. The finds have been great, with an assortment of treasure... The older spots are still producing older coins and relics.

There comes a time in ones life when we need to pray to see if a blessing from the Lord can be had. I never owned a new car, and when our gas prices kept going up and my van was no longer a need because the family has gotten smaller, I decided to trade in the old girl Betsy, for little Tina... But, I do miss my Odyssey

It's the Honda FIT, but don't rush out to buy one if you can afford the more comfortable Odyssey, Sidonia, Caravan, or the many mid size cars that are beginning to obtain better gas mileage. The Van was just to much for me to handle gas wise and was going into the 60,000 mile mark, which means some heavy maintenance cost coming up, so, I said, why not purchase one of the best gas efficient cars out here today besides a hybrid. The FIT is rated at 28-30 city and 34-36 highway, with a 5 speed VTEC engine. Well, it's better than 16-18 city and 20-22 highway with the van, and the savings will be seen in the next 6 months when I will not have to fix the older van because the FIT has a 3 year bumper to bumper guarantee, and even the insurance is cheaper. So, if you see this silver bullet cruising around, look inside, it just may be me visiting you in your neck of the woods...LOL.

I have all you and your families in prayer, and hope everyone of us can handle any and all problems that will arise in the future, let us just trust the Lord always, for he's all we've got to lean on.... Remained blessed all.

I would have thought the Odessy would have gotten better mileage. My Windstar got 28.8 MPG Going from flat Ohio to the mountains in southern West Virginia at 55 MPH. I expect would be reduced considerably at 65-70. That was in December. Don't know what it gets in town. It has a problem with the no. 2 cylinder right now and I need to check it out.
Have fun with the Honda.

Congratulations on the purchase of the new Honda...it's a beauty!

I own a Honda Accord....best car I have ever owned; bought it "used" in 2003...have never had a problem with it..

continued good luck on your hunting!

...but will a detector fit in the trunk??? That is a beautiful car Philo and I'm sure you'll enjoy the sportiness of it as well as the gas savings. My dad still drives his '84 Honda Civic he bought new and it is still going strong.

I'd call that a blessing. Only had one day I could get out this winter. Mostly weather keeping me in but small things like you mentioned...gas prices and...well our van has gone over 200,000 miles and one rear end accident while we were parked none the less.

I found a tobaggon hill but it is like 10 miles away one way and have to drive around the lake on 2 lane roads to get there. So scoped it out once and haven't been back since. If we don't have a way to combine our driving..we don't go. Twice a month we have to go to the big city of Roscommon so I could combine that with detecting on the hill.

Anyway, Phil congrats on the new wheels and it sure does look like a silver bullet...pretty spiffy!
If I see any werewolves up here I'll have you bring up your silver bullet  Glad to hear of all the blessing God has had for you (detecting and the car).

Nice little car! It will save you some cash! :)
