Luca, Chris.
On my PI-1000.I lowered C6 FROM 150pf to 120pf.this will speed up 4069,shorten time delay also.same thing as lowering R11-R12.Chris said something about a pot,I used a 2 way switch on a different detector, later turned it into a iron ID.
If C6 is 150pf in 13000,and R11-R12 are the same as R11-R12 in my PI-1000.a 120pf cap at C6 will increase dept and more sensitive.
PI-1000 R12, I fried 750 by lowering R12 to fast,after I lowered C6,Now I got good results after lowering C6. I dont use a scope,but a US nickel increased in dept somewhere from 3 1/2 to 5".
4017-IC, PI-1000 pin 7 is for delay, pin 2 for pulse. If you wont to take sample sooner, you might try pin 4 in place of pin 7.
In a early post Eric said something about 2 or more pins OR'd together with diodes.what does that mean.Is he refering to a clock generator.I am not school trained, still learning. Frank-S

Hi Frank,
What Eric is saying is to take 2 or more consecutive output pins from the 4017 and connect them together in order to logically "OR" them. This would have the effect of adding the on times of each output to produce a longer single pulse width out to the FET. An example of this would be to take outputs of 0,1, &2 which would be pins 3,2,&4 and connect them each to the anode of 3 diodes such as a 1n4148. The cathodes of the 3 diodes would be connected together and to the circuit that switches the gate of the FET. The diodes prevent one output from feeding back into the other outputs. In other words they provide some isolation of the outputs from each other. I hope this is clear.
Good luck,
FJ

FJ,
Thanks, I think so. - side of diode are connected to pins on 4017. + side of diode are all connected together.DC output goes to fet or trans; switch.the resastance in diode slows clock down.
In case of PI-1000, 4017 PINS 2 and 7 go to differnt switches, will a singel diode at each pin do the job.this is for future use, my 1000 is down might not be worth repairing.it has more damage than a bad 750 trans; Frank-S.
