real spanish silver? gimme your opinion

I bought this coin off of ebay and the guy listed that he bought it from franklin mint, I did a google search that showed franklin mint did indeed sell real spanish silver in the past. I thought it was odd it had all these little marks on it though?? what are they?
on another forum I am told the marks are called "chop marks" that shows at one time the coin was circulated in the orient somewhere and shop owners would assay it for real silver and "mark" it

I weighed it on my gram scale and it weighs 27g. Is this coin real spanish silver?

Pronounced (Re-Owl) Yes some would have Chinese chop marks in them. I was fortunate enough to watch an 8 Reale dug in the woods at a CW hunt and it was full of them marks. True there are many fakes out there, so by us looking at it here it would be tough to know. A reputable coin dealer would be who to ask. Nice looking either way!

Hi goes4ever,

It doesn't look like the Silver Reales I have and with the date 1909 or 7 it looks more like a Spanish Silver Dollar, but I could be wrong! Mike probably knows more than I do after all the detecting and going to coin shows like he does! I think there is name fpr them but I can't remember it right now.....maybe Pillar Dollars??? Roy Volker helped make a Pillar detector named after them, I think! But Ma's memory isn't what it used to be....sooo if I'm wrong please let me know! :)

God Bless!
