rechargeable batteries

What are the best rechargeable batters? I have some but I swear the detector is showing a lot more false signals than it did when the battery's were new.

You might want to stay away from the "Powerizer" brand. Even though they're 2600 mAh, they drop down to one bar fast in my Safari. I'm thinking of trying the Sanyo Eneloop batteries (less than $25 for 8 of them from amazon.com). Has anyone tried these yet?

I use GP batteries. I have two sets for the Quattro, 2050 Mah and 2700 Mah.

The 2050 last 12 hour, the 2700 only 8.

But what a power with those 2700s ! :surprised:

The fringe detection area delivers me deep finds I'd miss with the other batteries !

Considering a larger coil...

Is it not digitally regulated to be good to the end of batt.power?

Jens.

The key to remember is that the batteries need to have 1.5 volts apiece, because the detector's voltage total needs to be 12 volts. Most rechargeable's are only 1.2 volts each giving you only 9.6 volts total voltage for the detector.

Are they only 1,2 v full charged?I know they are Ni-Cd batt. I byu flashlights from Deal extreme, they use 3,7V Li-ion batt,Full charge is 4,2V.

Jens.

I'm talking full charge of 1.2v per battery. when searching for rechargables, you have to watch the full rated charge of the battery, and make sure they are 1.5v and not 1.2v per battery.

Been using Energizer and Rayovac rechargables 2500s for over a year in my Quattro. They are 1.2s, and work just fine. Experimented with a few of the cheaper ones, and got such a limited life, or poor performance it just wasn't worth it.
My rechargeables don't last quite as long as good alkalines, but I just keep a charged set with me and have no problems. I get over 10 hours at a minimum.

Thanks,
Mark

I can't find ANY nimh rechargeable that are 1.5 volt. Any one know of any?
The lithium's are but they are full charge around 1.6 and NOT supposed to be use in the detector. Alkaline are 1.5 a total of 12 volt not the 9.6 of rechargeable and do seem to have better performance.

same with my quattro mpostma, it has only seen one set of alkalines.... allways used the 2500s. over a year now & they work great & the 1.2 v has no effect on the machine. by the way I also have never seen 1.5 v rechargables. just dont buy the bargain basement type. 8 double a's at a pop gets very expensive so $25.00 for a year & 4 mo. ( & counting) is actually very cheap.

good luck out there, diggitdawg........

Hi all, battery life in the SAFARI is a sore point with me at the moment, the 1600mah Minelab pack as supplied is lasting me between 4-5 hours from fully charged. I purchased some Panasonic 2100mah nimhs which are only lasting around 2 hours from a full charge! so i purchased ANOTHER set of the Panasonic rechargeables (also 2100mah, identical to the first set) believing that the first set were faulty in some way, again, about 2 hours maximum use from a full charge. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, off i go and buy some reasonable alkalines believing that it should be beneficial (alkalines being 1.5v as opposed to recharg's 1.2v), these are giving me about the same detecting time as the Minelab 1600mah pack (i prefer to spend a couple of
