Relic hunting in my backyard - Mysterious white powder?

Goldburn

New member
Dug these up at about 1' down (hoping for a nice size E cache, and not a pile of scrap metal)

Using the Ace (It fit down in the hole better), and still getting signals, a couple more inches and hit a cache of white powder. The best guess I have is talc?

Digging sideways into the pile of powder, the stuff kept coming out.
This is a view from inside the hole.

I am not slurring my words or stumbling or anything, so I suppose It isn't toxic. lol.

might be where someone had a junk pile and they put dry wall there. just a guess though

Does the white powder have a smell to it,.Was it encased in a container?
Maybe your yard was part of the drug cartel cache:rofl:
Could be toxic ,be careful ,and you may want to dig it out and dispose of it.

I snorted some, and nothing.

Seriously, I think it's just harmless chalk. Probably a pile of plaster that the building contractor left in the backyard. I kept a sample in a 7-11 Iron Man slurpee cup and buried the rest.

IMHO,the stuff looks like it may be Asbestos!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have some one look at it and find out????

I buried a bunch of ash from my fireplace in my backyard and then dug the same spot a few years later and it was still there. It looks like ash from a fireplace or a grill.
