Relic question

Well-known member
I have gotten into civil war relic hunting and have the stock coil and 6 inc dd. My ground usually ground balances at 51 to 53 . Iwas wondering if the 10.5 mf coil would be an advantage to me. I want all the advantage I can get . Thanks Travis.

The larger DD coils will cover more ground (with each swath) than the two coils you have. And the larger DD coil will get more depth than the 6-inch DD. However, with GB numbers as you describe, and based on the places I hunt, I believe I can get as much depth with the 9-inch concentrics as I can using the 10.5 DD coils. The concentrics provide a much better balanced setup than the 10.5 inch DD coils, as well. Just make sure you overlap your swaths by half to maximize coverage at extreme depths. If you decide to get a 10.5 DD, either frequency will do fine. But I find the 18.75 is a more sensitive coil. JMHO HH Randy

Get the 10.5 and never look back!!! My ground is a little hotter, but not by much and the 10.5 DD stays on my 70 & 705..........MO

I have said it before and I'll say it again "the 10.5 DD 7.5kHz and the X-Terra-70 make for a perfect match". I would also include the 705 and 505 in that statement now. I think Randy is right on about the 10.5 DD 18.75 coil also. In fact this is the next coil on my list. These two coils are not only great for relic hunting but also are great coin shooters and both works great on the beach. HH TomB

Thanks fo rthe replies. I had a 9 inch 3khz on backorder. But since have gotten into relic hunting so I called the dealer today and asked if he could change my order to a 10.5 mf coil. I now will have to wait a couple more months as it is on backorder too.

I 10.5 DD 7.5 Freq. is hands down best for relic hunting with X-70 stable , ground coverage and handle any soil. In fact I sold all my other Minlab coils , [ 9 inch Low 3 kHz, 5X10 Elliptical] I wish that Minlab would make an Larger DD coil fort X-70 or after market but with Clip in coil only Minlab make Coil . I thank X-70 is great relic machine easy to use, and very reliable and price low!! Chuck
