for those of you that like to hunt out in the woods. Yesterday morning I was out with my
mini dachshound who likes to go along and sniff around in the tall grass. Even tho I had my
headphones on I heard her let out a yelp. I went to investigate and found that she had
taken on a large rattlesnake. It had bitten her just in front of her eyes, and the fang
marks were about an inch and a quarter apart. I was in a hurry to get her to the vet, so
I did'nt dispatch the snake which is still there waiting to strike it's next victem. I told the
vet to save her, we love our pets. Remember, you have to find a lot of silver dollars to
pay for a vile of antivenum, its about 500.00 a vile. So far I've only found one. Last night
when I went to see her, her face was swollen badly but she seemed more alert than when
I took her in.

I hope your dog is ok. Did they give her the antivenum?

They did give her the antivenum and the vet called this morning and said the
little girl is tough as nails and is doing quite well

My dog was bit by a snake last winter(possibly a moccasin) hit twice on the nose. According to the vet that is a good place to get a bit if your a dog. My dog took a week to get back to normal, we didn't do anti venom. The fact that he is 95lbs probably helped. Hope all turns out well for your pooch.
