Repair extension cable Explorer?

rob5

New member
Hi everybody,

I have an Explorer Hipmount (home made), I bought my extension cable to Dixie, it worked great until today, when I flex the extension cable (plug into the Explorer box)in every way around the area of the Explorer box, I have some sounds (false signal). I checked the solder in the plug, all is ok.

My question is, is this something that can be fixed?
I read in the forum that I can cut off an inch of cable and resolder the connector back.

Maybe, I will try to made my extension cable, what kind of wire I need (4 wires inside)? best brand?

Any advice to avoid this problem in the futur? (maybe to much stress)

Thanks for your help.

Maybe one of the internal conducting wires has an intermittent hairline break , is sounds like it. . These wires are prone to breaking especially at connecting points.
