Repaired CZ-20 shakedown -- too long

This weekend I took my recently repaired CZ-20 with 8 inch coil to the beach for Sea Trials. The last two times I have hunted this beach was with the Tesoro Tejon, since my CZ-20 was out of order. And my finds with the CZ-20 this weekend really show the shortcomings of the Tejon in this location. Yes you can hunt dry sand with it, if the beach is lightly mineralized, and it will put the CZ-20 to shame on small Gold. But Black Sand and hot rocks will bring it to it
 
Bill,Great find on the gold chain!The CZ20 picked up the pendent.I have a CZ20 and used it for many years.It does get fantastic depth and is built great.I started using a Sovereign over 2 years ago and haven't put it down yet.It seems my gold finds have went up alot since my change.Both machines have no problem picking up gold rings but The Sov. is more sensitive towards other gold.Good Luck Walter
 
Thanks Walt! I have thought about a Minelab for awhile, but am holding out, hoping Tesoro will bring out a tone based Vaquero. Or hope beyond hope, a water version w/tone ID.
I spend 90% of my time in a wetsuit shoulder deep in lakewater. I only hit the coast of Maine in the winter to relieve cabin fever. At first glance the Stingray or Tiger Shark might actually make more sense for me. But, and there is always a but, I have used the Tejon in very shallow wading, and small bits of foil that float along the lake bottom can make you crazy. So even though the CZ-20 is less sensitive to small gold, it is also less sensitive to what I guess you could call floating placer foil. And if I feel like hitting the Maine coast, I am good to go. And oops let's not forget, is it raining buckets outdoors? Who cares with the CZ-20!
Maybe if somebody wants me to take a Sov Elite off their hands for $200, I'll give her a try!

Being Valentine's day, I took the pictured necklace to work, and put all the ladies names in a hat. Pulled one, and one lucky lady went home with a nice suprise Valentine gift.
Had a blast finding it, had a blast giving it away!
Hell, I just consider it as making a sacrifice to the Beach Gold Gods, except nobody gets thrown off a cliff, or burned at the stake.
