Repositioned Ferrite-Help

Hey guys I need a little assistance. Does any one know about the piece of Ferrite in a GP and possibly in the ML Sd's?
If there is one, can it move and cause it to be noiser? I had mine checked at ML in Las Vegas for excess noise. It just says on work order Check Ferrite-Ops ok and repositioned ferrite.
Any comments WILL BE APPRECIATED. joebody

Hi Joebody,
I have no idea if ML is using ferrite beads or sleeves, but Eric did mention in an earlier post they can be used on the rec wires to reduce noise.
I am curious, was the detector quieter after the adjustments were made?

Hi Reg and Joe.
I have an SD2100 that has a ferrite sleeve on the wires between the coil connector and the circuit board. This is usually done to reduce spurious emissions coming out of the detector and to attenuate any rf coming in. I can't see that repositioning that would make any difference.
I wondered whether a small piece of ferrite is used to get a final balance on a DD coil. This would affect the noise performance. However, to reposition that, you would have to get inside the coil housing. So, I doubt it is that either.
Eric.
