I've heard of that. Nothing much beats Mother Nature. Cigarette ashes also make a great polish for gold, silver, etc. Just dampen a rag and dip it in some ashes and polish away.

Rhubarb is known for being poisonous from the leaves conbtaining oxalic acid. It'd be interesting to go to the drug store & see if you can buy o.a. crystals & skip the plant.
