Results Of Pre-Buried Coins From This Weekend's Hunt!

James N.D.

New member
Here is the results of this weekend's hunt that was held in Grand Rapids, ND. I did very well and I myself couldn't believe the amount of coins I dug from this pre-buried hunt. There were around 60 hunters I believe and the fee was $80.00 to get into it. Everyone couldn't believe how fast I was with my Explorer XS and my Joey Coil. People were just shaking their heads at my totals each event. The weather was great except for Sunday. We recieved a little rain but it was over by the time the hunt was to begin. I dug 19 Sacagawea Dollars,17 Clad Kennedy Halves,4 Franklin Halves,2 '64 Kennedy Halves,1 Barber Quarter,12 Silver Washington Quarters,19 Mercury Dimes,49 Silver Roosevelt Dimes, and 2 Jefferson War Nickels. I also found 2 prize tokens that were redeemed for a 1977 and a 1978 Proof Set. The Proof Sets are not pictured. The pics for the coin finds are below.[attachment 27784 Dollars.png][attachment 27785 Halves.png][attachment 27786 SilverHalvesandQuarters.png][attachment 27787 MercsandWarNickels.png][attachment 27788 RooseveltDimes.png]

Hi James,

It looks like you had a very good hunt, the only snag is that all the other contestants will probably rush out and buy Explorers, therefore more competition.

All the best.......Boony

Did you leave any for the rest?
Nice job!

take long swings and cover the width of the coil to have success as I have had in the hunts. It doesn't matter how fast you swing the detector, it is how much area you cover when swinging the detector that makes the big difference and fast recoveries also. Hope to see you at the Fall Club Hunt and we will see if you can keep up with me. See you next meeting and Good Luck and HH this month!

Everyone got their share of the coins but I got twice as many as most of the other hunters since I was always being asked how many coins I got. There was only one time that I know of that I was tied with anyone and that was at the beginning of the hunt. Me and Tim Pazdernik were tied with 26 Silver Rosie's on the warm-up hunt. One other I know of had 25 Silver Rosie's and that was Mike Juhl during the warm up hunt. But you never know if someone did beat me since I only did see the results from the first hunt session. It was a great time and can't wait till the fall Club Hunt for the members only to get some more silver to add to my growing Hoard! Thanks for the comment and Good Luck and HH Minelab Marcus!

There were guys using every brand name of detector and they have had these the last couple of years. One was even using an old Teknetics Mark 5. There were Shadow's,Garrett's,White's,Tesoro's,Many Minelab's,Fisher's,and Rick (ND) even was trying out his Teknetics 2 but he was having a problem with chatter with all the other Minelab's and others. It was a blast and wish it could be done more often. Thanks Boony for the reply and hope you have some Good Luck on your next venture out.

If only I could do something about this 58 year old wore out body as it don't move like it used to. That is the secret to a good hunt is locating and retrieving and going again. There is a article in the new Lost Treasure Mag about this type of hunting.
I feel you did very good along with many of the hunter we had out in the field and feel everyone had a great time.

The Tekentics T-2 was just too sensitive to use for competition hunting I feel with the chatter from any detector within 10 feet of me. When I used my Sovereign GT on the one hunt I did OK too but was heavy to swing so I tried my Grandsons X-Terra 30 in the last 2 hunts because of the weight and ease to swing, but just couldn't swing the coil over a lot of coins.
Cant wait for the fall hunt so we can all get together again and have a great time.

Rick

I used them for about a day and a half and they still showed 3/4 charge left. I will stop out and see what you want for them and maybe you can get some more in. The hunt was a lot of fun and can't wait until the next one.
