Revisiting the Compadre

Started taking the Compadre back to the field. I had forgotten just how simple it was to use. Since recommending one to a friend I figured it would be good to get some time in with mine again. Wow, it's just so darn easy for a grab and go hunt. Even without headphones it's a ball to use and still manages to find things other units have missed. Mine is the 8" donut coil and it manages to go pretty darn deep on tiny stuff. I've found it's also easily fooled for an almost solid signal by blooming iron targets. But if I pay attention there will be a rough sound at one end or the other of the signal. A solid hit within the range on the dial will result in a coin most of the time. These little machines let a lot of folks into the metal detecting world. If they would take the time to listen and learn what the unit is saying they can hold their own for sure.

I have been amazed with mine. Finally getting confident with its language as they say. I keep thinking about moving up the ladder with another machine but my lil compadre keeps finding stuff. I am waiting to find a used one to do a waterproof compadre. Have the box and cable glands. If one doesn't come along soon I'll break down and buy a new one to chop up. Anyhow....viva la compadre. That's what I am saying! The Compadre is a darn good detector!

I have had a Compadre for maybe a couple of years, mine has the ability too change coils so its a little bit more flexible, use it mainly with either the 7'' Concentric or 4'' coils on,if i am honest i cannot see what all the excitement is with this machine !! so these days i dont use it as a detector as such but do keep the 4'' coil on it and use it sometimes as a pinpointer when deep hunting with a Pulse on pasture sites.I cannot recall seeing another one being used on either a club dig or a detecting rally here in the UK,the No1 starter machine by a mile here is the Ace250.

Wont sell the Compadre as it does work well down deep holes locating items, its ace trump card when using it this way is that it does have discrimination.
