Jan. 1st.
Went to a beach nearby for a few hours in the afternoon. Beautiful weather.
First coin dug and it is an old Japanese one - Year 1668. The second one from that beach. Then a few newer coins and up comes a Japanese 10 Sen coin from 1935, not good condition but first one of that kind for me. The more I hunt that beach the more I really like the history in it.
Swinging along the edge of the sea with the Ace 150 and looking into the clear water (only in winter) trying to imagine all the goodies hidden there and up comes a nice 18K white gold ring. Got the loupe out to check the markings and also because it has a small dark blue 'stone' only on the inside, bow to the beach gods (not really) and just enjoy the moment for what it is - ABSOLUTE FUN!
Scan the hole again and scoop up a smaller matching ring!! WOW, DOUBLE ABSOLUTE FUN!!
Was on a natural high after that and even the pull tabs were just fine.
My wife made up various stories (mostly bad ones) about how two matching wedding bands got to be in the same place. I like to turn a negative into a positive though and reckon it was simply a couple throwing a frisbee and both rings fell in exactly the same spot! Well, dreams are free aren't they?!
Great way to start 2006. Hope you did too.
