My wife & I headed out last Friday to southern New Mexico from our home in Tucson (about 5 hours). As we were going to be looking for old RR stop dumps for detecting & sifting I had everything loaded in the truck.

In south central NM there is the White Sands Missle Range and the highway goes through it. Incredibly bright white sand (originally gypsum they said) stretched for a kazillion square miles. The first atomic bomb was set off here.

Well the railroad lines were all bladed and stuff is gone so we were not able to find any relics/date nails. But that's why we are detectorists also - I spent 3 days digging coins and such from parks & schools and got just over 200. Man, they were very hard to find as most places were really worked over. Also got some gold, silver, a SBA dollar, 2 wheats & the big kitchen knife in the pic just under the chip bark in an elementary school !

The gold ring is 14 K stamped with Black Hills gold also, the ear ring is silver, the heart is 10 K gold with stones that I'll check on, the shoe pendant isn't gold but neat, the big cross is gold plated over 925 and a cz stone (stamped info) and lastly, the plastic enclosed little cross sure looks like gold but not the loop.

Lastly, it was good to get back home after 5 days, steve in so az

Thanks for those great pics, Steve

I would love to see that part of the United States, but I doubt that I will ever get much further than Ct.

you had a terrific hunting excursion!

those gold and silver finds are neat!!

congratulations to you and your wife on great detecting! :clapping::thumbup:

Great road trip!!! You gotta love finding silver and gold, just like the song by Yukon Cornelius, "Silver and Gold"!!!

Well, not so hunted out because to find what you did is a blessing from God! The jewelry is beautiful! You find the neatest stuff! Glad you and Nancy could get away for awhile, but always nice to get back to home sweet home, especially when you are tired from travelling, sight-seeing and treasure hunting! WTG, Steve! Keep on, keepin' on diging and serving the Lord Jesus Christ!

God Bless!
