You know what I think would be interesting? That we count up the number of "look what I found" threads posted by people who always complain there aren't enough of those, versus those of the people they are complaining about, over say the last year or two or so.
Far as air tests or coil field reports, I find any of that stuff extremely interesting myself and love to read any of those reports, as well as make some of my own. Two recent threads posted by two other guys who got the Ultimate coil for example, I could not wait to read what they had to say about that coil in comparison to their other coils, and in contrast to what I've seen myself with this coil thus far. Those kinds of threads I find the most interesting to me, even more so then most other threads.
I don't like seeded hunts, relic bullet hunting, and several other forms of hunting, but I would never feel it's my place to complain about people doing that just because I don't find it of particular interest to me. After all, if everybody shared the same lock step view on things then wouldn't be much need for forums. So I feel it ain't my place to complain about others who are into various aspects of detecting that I find a complete bore or of little use to me in this great hobby of ours. To each his own is the way I look at it.
Judging by the number of standardized air test videos on Youtube for many detectors (the brick test, the elevated nail test, coil comparisons in air tests, etc), seems there are many who do indeed think they can learn a few things from air testing. I'm one of them. It's what I find interesting as a general rule of thumb baseline to compare things on. I encourage those who find videos like that a total waste of time to start making their own Youtube videos themselves on what they find of interest.
All I have to say as I've made my point, so no worries of any continued back and fourth on the topic. I'd just encourage those who want to see more threads or videos on their particular interest to start making them and get'er done...
