RoyaL Saber or Golden Umax

my question is how much difference is there in a Royal and a Golden? new or old Golden. i have access to a Royal--would it be close in performance to the Golden?

I'll back Monte up on this one-I have one and just won't let it go. The dual tone can be adjusted with the notch control knob and MOST tabs will give a broken tone, a nickel/gold ring a low tone, and coins a high tone. In the notch mode, you can get rid of tabs and still stay in the foil range, as the low end notch will go all the way down to bottlecap reject or can be adjusted higher-which I never do since the small foil will have a distinctive break up to the tone=a scratchy sound. Even more fun, is to adjust the notch to where SOME of the sta-tabs will give a scratchy-broken signal and the nickel a clear low tone! The only thing it won't do that the Golden will do is to adjust the tones to where sta-tabs, foil, and an iron nail give a mixed low tone while a nickel is a clear low tone. That, and the fact that the low end discrimination is adjustable below bottlecap. The notch accept can be used in extreme conditions like finding silver in screwcap infested sites. I once found a silver half in an almost unsearchable site by accepting only coins in the silver range. I'm sure I'd enjoy the Golden, but hate to spend the money when I already have the Royal.
